VRAS to launch protest for statehood in New Delhi on April 7

On April 7, the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) will demonstrate for statehood at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. According to a news statement, VRAS employees will demonstrate to press their demands.

A significant number of VRAS activists from around Vidarbha will go to Delhi to join the agitation in HallaBol. According to the VRAS, the BJP passed a resolution granting Vidarbha statehood. In 1998, Bhubaneswar hosted a national convention. Nitin Gadkari, a senior BJP politician, has also stated that if the BJP wins power, a Vidarbha state will be created.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and SudhirMungantiwar had also underlined the promise in many rallies.The residents ofVidarbha had favoured BJP in 2014 polls. As a result, the BJP won 44 Assembly Seats out of 62. 

As the BJP failed to keep the promise, the BJP’s tally reduced to 29, the press releasestated.TheVRAS also accused theCongress of false promises. 

“Financial condition ofMaharashtra has worsened in the last few years. Many youngsters are unemployed in the Stateand whopping 35,000 farmershave committed suicide in past12 years. AdvWamanrao Chatap,Prakash Pohare, RanjanaMamarde, Shriniwas Khandewale, Prabir Kumar Chakraborty, Arun Kedar andothers appealed the people to support the agitation in large numbers
