Amruta Fadnavis bribery case: Accused Anil Jaisinghani detained in Gujarat

According to sources, Mumbai Police apprehended suspected bookie Anil Jaisinghani from Gujarat on Monday, just days after his daughter Aniksha was arrested for allegedly attempting to blackmail and bribe Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife.

A crime branch official confirmed to the sources that Anil Jaisinghani, who is wanted in 14 to 15 cases, was apprehended in Gujarat but refused to provide further details.

On March 16, Mumbai Police arrested designer Aniksha Anil Jaisinghani after Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta accused her of offering a bribe for intervening in a criminal case and threatening her.

Aniksha has been charged with criminal conspiracy under Section 120B of the IPC, extortion under Section 385 of the IPC, and abetment under Sections 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the FIR, Amruta wore designer clothes and jewellery provided by Anishka at promotional events and even published a book written by her. Both were said to have been in contact since 2015, and Anishka was a frequent visitor to Fadnavis’ official bungalow. Amruta claims that after she blocked Anishka’s phone number, she began threatening and conspiring against her and her husband.
