Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has secured second position in the state for its commendable implementation of various health initiatives aimed at benefiting citizens. The prestigious award was presented by the Public Health Department, acknowledging NMC’s efforts during the current year. Dr. Narendra Bahirwar, the Medical Health Officer of NMC, graciously accepted the award on behalf of the civic body and was also felicitated for the outstanding work accomplished by the Health Department.
During a workshop held in Mumbai on Tuesday, a comprehensive review of the orientation and dissemination of the Project Implementation of National Health Mission took place, leading to the announcement of the rankings. The workshop was chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Health Department and attended by the Commissioner of Health Services, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission in Mumbai, as well as several other officials and representatives from various districts and organizations.
The workshop focused on discussing the various health-related activities and programs implemented under the National Health Mission, wherein NMC achieved the remarkable position of second among all Municipal Corporations in Maharashtra State. Dr. Bahirwar attributed the success to the collective efforts of his fellow officers and staff, including Dr. Vijay Joshi, Dr. Sarla Lad, Dr. Ashwini Nikam, Nilesh Babre, and Dr. Rajesh Bure. He also emphasized the dedication and hard work of the staff at NMC-run hospitals and private hospitals, specifically highlighting the contributions of Deepali Nagre, Deepali Ganorkar, Priyanka Mohite, and Praful Kinikar. This recognition serves as a testament to the exemplary work carried out by the Primary Health Centers, medical officers, and workers associated with NMC and NUHM.
