Over 3,000 Students from 50 Schools to participate in traditional attire Nagpur, July 14:
While thousands of Warkaris have set out for Pandharpur to mark Ashadhi Ekadashi, Nagpur will witness a vibrant celebration of the Warkari tradition as more than 3,000 students from nearly 50 schools participate in a grand ‘Warkari Dindi’ on Saturday, July 18.
The procession is being jointly organised by Nutan Bharat Vidyalaya and Junior College, Abhyankar Nagar, Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Secondary Education Department of Zilla Parishad, Nagpur, Marathi Bhasha Gyan Samvardhan Pratishthan, and Siddhivinayak Seva Trust. The initiative aims to familiarise students with the rich Warkari tradition while instilling awareness about Maharashtra’s culture, heritage and identity.
The Dindi will commence at 8 am from Savarkar Statue, Shankar Nagar, with Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur district Chandrashekhar Bawankule flagging off the procession. Mayor Nita Thakre will preside over the programme.
MLAs Adv. Abhijit Wanjari and Sanjay Bhende, former MLA Sandeep Joshi, Chairperson of the Standing Committee Shivani Dani Wakhare, Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar, Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Vinayak Mahamuni, Deputy Director of Education Madhuri Savarkar, Secondary Education Officer Anil Dahiphale, President of Marathi Bhasha Gyan Samvardhan Pratishthan Ravindra Katolkar, and several other dignitaries will be present on the occasion.
More than 3,000 students from around 50 schools, dressed in traditional Warkari attire, will participate in the procession. The programme will begin with the ceremonial worship of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini, following which the Dindi will proceed amid the rhythmic beats of taal and mridang and the chanting of devotional hymns. The procession will culminate with an aarti at Dnyaneshwar Temple, Bajaj Nagar.
A Mahaprasad has been organised at the premises of Nutan Bharat Vidyalaya from 10.30 am onwards.Nutan Bharat Vidyalaya and Junior College Secretary Ramesh Bakshi and Principal Dr Vandana Badwaik have appealed to principals, teachers, students and citizens to participate in large numbers, experience Maharashtra’s glorious Warkari tradition and partake of the Mahaprasad.
