Nagpur: In a major crackdown on illegal activities, Kotwali Police seized Rs 41 lakh in suspected hawala money during a nakabandi near Shivaji Putla on December 31, Tuesday.
The cash was being transported on a scooty by two individuals, who were intercepted during the late-night operation. When questioned, they failed to produce any valid documents to account for the large amount. Preliminary investigations indicate the money was linked to hawala transactions.
The operation was led by Zone 3 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mahak Swamy, reflecting the department’s commitment to curbing illegal activities during the festive period.
