Nagpur: The Nagpur Traffic Department achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024, recording a significant increase in traffic law enforcement. Between January 1 and December 31, 2024, the department registered over 13.67 violation and issued challans worth ₹14.22 crore for different traffic violations, an increase of 2.64 lakh cases compared to 11.03 lakh violations in 2023.
Key Enforcement Highlights for 2024:
• Helmet Violations: Cases surged by 2.50 lakh, reaching 8.93 lakh cases compared to 6.43 lakh in 2023.
• Use of Mobile Devices While Driving: Reported 9,255 cases, reflecting a rise of 2,845 cases over the previous year.
• Driving Without Licenses: Registered 73,653 cases, an increase of 2,116 cases from 2023.
• Dangerous Driving: Cases decreased, with 575 incidents in 2024 compared to 1,108 in 2023.
• Seat Belt Violations: Declined by 9,611 cases, totaling 25,756 cases in 2024.
Road Safety Commitment:
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Archit Chandak, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to ensuring safer roads through consistent action against violators. Citizens have been urged to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic police to maintain road safety.
