Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur, hosted ‘DPS Challenge 64’, its 2nd Inter-School Chess Championship, with the aim of providing a platform for young minds to showcase their strategic thinking, analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. The two-day event, scheduled on 17th and 18th January, 2025, witnessed enthusiastic participation from budding students of Grades II to XII. The tournament was divided into three categories: Primary, High School and Junior College. Each category witnessed intense competition, with participants showcasing their skills and strategies.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr.SwapnilBansod, a renowned chess personality, as the Chief Guest. Mr.Swapnil, who holds multiple prestigious titles, including FIDE Arbiter, International Arbiter, National Instructor and FIDE Lecturer, inspired the young chess players with his motivational address. His remarkable achievements, including being the youngest in India to attain these titles, left the audience in awe. The Chief Arbiter, Mr.PravinPantavane, Tournament Secretary, Nagpur District Chess Association, ensured a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants. Ms.TulikaKedia, President and Pro-Vice Chairperson of DPS Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur, has been instrumental in fostering a culture of educational excellence and holistic development. Ms.SavitaJaiswal, Director, DPS Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur, sent her best wishes to all participants, encouraging them to demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship.
The event saw overwhelming participation. The intense, power-packed competition left the audience at the edge of their seats. The two-day tournament concluded with the declaration of results amidst high energy and enthusiasm.
In a thrilling display of talent and competition between the boys, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur, emerged as the undisputed champions, sweeping the top honours in both the Primary and High School levels! While DPS MIHAN put up a strong fight to secure the runner-up trophy in the Primary School category and SomalwarNikalas took home the runner-up trophy in the High School level.
For the girls’ category of the Primary level, students from Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur bagged the winners trophy. The participants of SomalwarNikalas School bagged the runner-up trophy. From the High School category, participants from Delhi Public School Kamptee Road, Nagpur were declared the winners and the participants of SomalwarNikalas School won the runner-up trophy.
The winners and participants were highly appreciated and congratulated by the Vice Principal. Overall, the 2nd Inter-School Chess Championship was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship among the participants.
