In a tragic case of domestic abuse and violence, a 17-year-old boy and his mother have been charged with the murder of Mukesh Shankarrao Shende (57) at their Hudkeshwar residence on January 19.
According to police, Mukesh, a habitual drinker, often harassed his wife, Urmila Shende, and their son. On the night of the incident, an argument turned violent, prompting the teenager to push his father off a mattress, causing a nosebleed. The boy then strangled him with a towel, leading to his death.
Investigations revealed that Urmila assisted her son in concealing the crime. She reportedly cleaned the bloodstains with phenyl and helped pack the body in a sack in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Based on a complaint by a family member, Mangesh Vamanrao Shende, Hudkeshwar police have registered a case under Sections 103, 238, and 3(5) of the BNS. Further investigations are underway.
