Shri Anandji Prasad assumed the charge of Director (Technical / Project & Planning) at WCL on January 21, 2025. WCL CMD Shri J. P. Dwivedi, Director (Technical) Operations Shri A. K. Singh, Director (Finance / Personnel) Shri Bikram Ghosh, CVO Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, General Managers, HoDs, and others congratulated him and extended their best wishes for his new assignment.
Prior to joining WCL, Shri Prasad served as Project Adviser in the Ministry of Coal (MoC) since July 2021. At the Coal Ministry, he played a key role in formulating various policies, schemes, and initiatives, and actively pursued several policy interventions in the coal and energy sectors.
Shri Anandji Prasad is a Graduate Mining Engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and obtained the First Class Coal Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency in 1994. He is a seasoned professional with approximately 35 years of experience in the coal and energy sectors. He holds postgraduate diplomas in Management and Computer Applications and earned a law degree from Ranchi University in 2010.
Shri Prasad began his career as an executive trainee in 1989 with Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). With diverse experience in planning and designing coal and metal mines, as well as managing coal mine operations, he has significantly contributed to the formulation of policies, roadmaps, and vision documents for CIL and the Ministry of Coal.
He has been instrumental in introducing continuous miner technology in underground mines and formulating model MDO documents for CIL mines. Additionally, he spearheaded several innovative initiatives, such as the digital transformation of seven opencast mines at CIL, reopening discontinued mines, and achieving NABL accreditation for the Mining Laboratory at CMPDIL.
