A youth from Nagpur and three others from Maharashtra were among the 104 illegal Indian immigrants recently deported from the United States. They were secretly transported from Amritsar to their respective hometowns under tight security. However, no official statement has been issued regarding their deportation.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the deported individuals include Harpreet Singh Lalia (33) from Nagpur, Gurvinder Singh (44) from Mumbai, and Prashant Anil Jahagirdar (32) from Adgaon. Reports suggest that they paid large sums to illegally enter the US through the infamous ‘Dunki Route,’ which involves unauthorized border crossings through multiple countries.
Sources revealed that the trio was apprehended by US authorities shortly after their illegal entry. Their Indian passports were confiscated before deportation.
The deportees arrived in India aboard a US Air Force C-17 Globemaster military aircraft, which landed at Guru Ravidas International Airport in Amritsar around 1 pm on Wednesday. The flight also carried 11 crew members and 45 US officials overseeing the deportation process.
Despite a significant media presence at the airport, authorities discreetly escorted the deportees through a back exit and transported them to undisclosed locations. Before their departure, all 104 individuals underwent screening and verification procedures at the airport.
