The long-delayed Dr. Ambedkar Super Specialty Hospital in Indora is set to break ground soon after clearing all bureaucratic hurdles. The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has finalized the proposal, and construction will proceed in two phases. The first phase, involving a G+8 hospital complex, is estimated to cost Rs 402.08 crore for civil work, electrical systems, and fire safety. A private contractor will be appointed in the next two months to begin work.
The hospital will feature 857 beds across nine floors, with 25 operation theatres. The facility will include a large solar canopy to reduce electricity reliance. The design incorporates specialized units like a trauma center, nephro-urology department, dialysis facilities, SICU, MICU, NICU, and PICU. General wards will occupy the upper floors.
The hospital will also offer amenities such as a spacious cafeteria, fine-dining area for staff, retail pharmacy, blood bank, ATM, and more. It will provide medical services across a wide range of specialties, including cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, dermatology, and more.
The hospital’s development began in June 2018, facing land disputes with a nearby school. The project cost was pegged at Rs 575 crore, with Rs 431.84 crore allocated for civil construction and Rs 143.94 crore for medical equipment. The second phase will include a medical college and postgraduate student housing.
