The Solid Waste Management Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has introduced four new mechanized road sweeping machines to clean roads and flyovers in the city. These machines have already been deployed to begin operations.

Previously, the Municipal Corporation had only three sweeping machines. With the addition of four new ones, a total of seven machines are now in use for road cleaning. Additionally, the corporation has requested six more mechanized road sweeping machines from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.
Nagpur is currently witnessing extensive development, including the construction of four-lane roads and flyovers. Due to a shortage of manpower for road cleaning, mechanized methods have become essential. Recognizing the importance of adopting new technologies, the Municipal Corporation has procured four mechanized road sweeping machines using grants from the 15th Finance Commission.
The Solid Waste Management Department has strategically deployed these machines across the city:
– The first machine cleans from Old Katol Naka to New Katol Naka and from New Katol Naka to Pardi HB Town Ring Road.
– The second machine covers routes from Police Line Lake to Shankarnagar Chowk, Khamla Road, Police Line Lake, NADT to Mekosabag Bridge, Kadbi Chowk, and Margherita Complex to Ginger Mall.
– The third machine cleans from Narendranagar Bridge to Orange City Street, Jaytala Bazaar, Manishnagar ROB to Chinchbhuvan DP Road, Khapri Road, Ajni Chowk to Anand Talkies, FCI Godown Road to Ajni Railway Station, and Kriplani Chowk.
– The fourth machine operates from Anand Talkies RUB to Jhansi Rani Chowk to Ambazari T Point, Variety Chowk to Wadi Naka, and Shri Mohini Complex to CP Club.

The mechanized road sweeping machines are significantly enhancing cleanliness in the city. Equipped with a water jet, they prevent dust from dispersing into the air, thereby reducing pollution. These machines also improve safety by minimizing the risks associated with manual cleaning of narrow flyovers.
Additionally, each machine features a high suction hose pipe, which efficiently collects roadside garbage and waste discarded by citizens. This advanced technology enables faster and more effective road cleaning, covering a larger area in less time.
