Citing consistently low passenger occupancy, Indian Railways has decided to reduce the number of coaches on Train No. 20101/20102 Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express from 20 to 8, effective February 19, 2025. The move aims to enhance efficiency while maintaining service quality.

A detailed analysis of passenger trends over the past five months revealed an average occupancy of just 34% on the route. Train No. 20101 (Nagpur-Secunderabad) recorded an occupancy rate of 33.81%, while Train No. 20102 (Secunderabad-Nagpur) had 33.87%. The declining ridership has been a topic of discussion, with industry experts and media questioning the need for a full 20-coach service on this corridor.
Despite the reduction in coaches, Indian Railways assures passengers that the premium Vande Bharat experience will remain unchanged. The adjustment is expected to improve turnaround times, optimize resource utilization, and ensure efficient deployment of modern trainsets across the network.

This decision aligns with Indian Railways’ commitment to sustainable and demand-driven operations. Passengers will continue to benefit from fast travel, superior comfort, and world-class onboard amenities without any impact on service quality.
