Nagpur: The coach composition of the 20101/20102 Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express will be reduced to eight coaches from February 19, 2025, Central Railway announced on Tuesday. The train, which currently operates with 20 coaches—including 18 Chair Cars (CC) and two Executive Chair Cars (EC)—will now run with seven Chair Cars and one Executive Chair Car.
Despite the reduction in coaches, the train’s schedule remains unchanged. It will continue to operate daily, except Tuesdays, departing from Nagpur at 5:00 AM and reaching Secunderabad at 12:15 PM.
The decision comes in response to consistently low occupancy levels since the train’s launch in September. With a total capacity of 1,440 passengers, data shows that 65-70% of seats remain vacant on most journeys. The issue was previously highlighted by Lokmat Times, which had suggested the possibility of a reduction in coaches. Railway officials expect that the revised configuration will improve occupancy rates, aligning the service with other Vande Bharat trains across the country.
Passengers with pre-booked tickets will be notified about the change via bulk SMS, while additional announcements will be made through the public address system at railway stations and reservation centers, the railway administration confirmed.
