A major accident was averted on Friday near the guard lobby located at the Itarsi end of platform number 1 of the Nagpur railway station. A wall of the old reservation hall adjacent to the railway mail service building suddenly collapsed. Fortunately, no one was present there at the time of the accident.
This incident happened on Friday when the work of demolishing old buildings was going on under the redevelopment project of the railway station. 90% of the old reservation hall had already been demolished, and the fallen wall was the rear part of this building. The railway administration had already installed high tin fencing for security, which reduced the severity of this accident to some extent.
