The Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Nagpur Crime Branch busted a sex trafficking racket in Manakapur, apprehending four individuals and rescuing two victims during a raid at Parvati Sahanivas in Taj Nagar between February 28 and March 1.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises and found that women were being coerced into prostitution for financial gain. The accused were identified as Sachin Dilip Meshram (35), a resident of Taj Nagar; Akash Ashok Jagnit (32) from Kamptee; Sonali Sachin Meshram (20) of Taj Nagar; and Sangita Chandu Dambhare (48), a resident of Kalamna. The accused were allegedly exploiting two women by luring them into sex work and arranging customers for monetary profit.
During the operation, police rescued the victims and seized four mobile phones, ₹3,000 in cash, and other valuables worth ₹49,020. A case has been registered at Manakapur Police Station under Section 143(3) of the BNS and Sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The accused, along with the seized items, have been handed over to Manakapur police for further investigation.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil. The raid was led by PI Kavita Isarkar from the Social Security Department, along with her team.
