Fire emergencies demand rapid response, and the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has reinforced its firefighting arsenal by deploying a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV), a Fire Canon Water Tower (12 KL), and a Fire Water/Foam Tender at Jamtha Fire Station.
The decision comes in response to multiple tragic incidents in the region. A massive explosion at Snehal Pharma and Surgicals Pvt Ltd in Butibori MIDC left six workers injured, while 1,282 accidents and 135 fatalities were reported on the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway within nine months. A crash near Jambargaon toll plaza claimed 12 lives, including a six-year-old girl. In a recent collision, one person died, and two were injured, exposing the need for faster emergency intervention.
The QRV, a compact, high-speed fire engine, is equipped with a 38 LPM water mist system at 150 bar, a 400-liter water/foam tank, and a tight 7-meter turning radius, making it perfect for congested industrial areas and accident-prone zones.
For large-scale blazes, the Fire Canon Water Tower, armed with a 12,000-liter water tank and an aerial suppression system, can combat high-rise and factory fires from a safe distance, crucial for Butibori MIDC, Hingna MIDC, and MIHAN.
The Fire Tender, strategically placed near Samruddhi Mahamarg, is designed to handle fuel-based fires and highway disasters, unlike municipal fire trucks stationed in the city.
With these additions, Jamtha Fire Station is now a critical firefighting hub, ensuring faster response times and better emergency coverage across Nagpur’s growing metropolitan region.
