A Crime Branch Unit 2 team raided Tamasha Lounge in Ramnagar on Monday night, cracking down on an illegal hookah parlour operating under Ambazari police station limits. Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted the operation around 10:00 PM, leading to the apprehension of Brijesh Badri Prasad Pal (33), a resident of WCL Quarters, Saoner.
During the raid, the accused was caught supplying banned tobacco-laced hookah to customers. Police seized hookah-related materials worth ?19,350 from the premises. A case has been registered at Ambazari Police Station under Section 223 of the BNS and Sections 4(A) and 21(A) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (Maharashtra Amendment Act, 2018).
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Nisar Tamboli, Additional CP (Crime) Sanjay Patil, DCP (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime) Abhijit Patil. The raid was led by Senior PI Shubhangi Deshmukh and her team. The apprehended suspect and seized materials have been handed over to Ambazari police for further investigation.
