The city is set to embrace the spirit of Holi with a series of cultural and religious events, including a Kavi Sammelan, Holika Dahan, and traditional celebrations at various venues.
Recently, the Nagar Jyestha Maheshwari Sabha organised a Kavi Sammelan as part of Holi Milan. Poets Dr Ramesh Gandhi, Satish Lakhotiya, Santosh Kabra, and Gauri Kanoje presented their poetic compositions, including satires and thought-provoking verses. An award distribution ceremony was also held for an essay competition conducted in memory of late Pushpa Devi Giridharilal Sarda. Kamal Tapadiya compered the event, while Kanhaiyalal Mandhana (President) and Madhusudan Sarda (Secretary) extended their greetings and thanks. The event was supported by Damodar Toshaniwal and Laxmikant Chandak, with prominent attendees like Purushottam Maloo, Ramavtar Totla, and Virendra Chandak.
Adding to the festivities, Holika Dahan will take place at Gandhi Sagar Jhulelal Temple on March 13 at 7 PM under the aegis of Sindhu Jhulelal Welfare Society and the guidance of Mahant Thakur Mohandas. A Holi Milan gathering has also been planned, with President Ramesh Jeswani urging people to participate in large numbers.
The Tajak Mahila Mandal will host its Holi celebration on March 12, coordinated by Shri Yogesh Maharaj Joshi. Following this, on March 13, the Tajak Mahila Mandal and Tajak Senior Citizens Mandal will conduct a grand Holi programme at Yog Sadhana Centre, Jai Bhim Chowk, Gohalipur, starting from 5 PM. Later in the evening, a special singing event will be organised at 8 PM.
Meanwhile, Venkatesh Devasthan, Dharaskar Road, Itwari, will mark the occasion with Phag Utsav on March 13 from 5:30 PM. The temple will host a flower Holi, traditional Chang music, and bhajan performances, followed by the distribution of Thandai and prasad. The temple trustees have invited devotees to join in the vibrant celebrations.
With a mix of literary gatherings, religious rituals, and cultural performances, Nagpur is set to celebrate Holi with fervor and joy.
