Nagpur: In a major crackdown on illegal betting, the Kalamna police raided a rented room in Netaji Nagar, Galli No. 4, and apprehended two individuals involved in wagering on the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM, catching the accused red-handed as they were placing bets inside a rented accommodation near Bright Tuition. The arrested individuals have been identified as Apurva Rajkamal Sharma (21), a resident of Ravishankar Nagar, Korba, Chhattisgarh, and Komal Nankiram Devangan (33), a resident of Balco, Bhadrapara, Korba, Chhattisgarh. Both had been temporarily staying in a rented house in Nagpur.
During the operation, the police seized three mobile phones, a laptop, and other betting-related equipment worth ₹51,010. A case has been registered at Kalamna Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act.
