A recent survey by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has flagged 10 areas in the city as heatwave-prone. Key locations like Sitabuldi Market, Kalamna Market, Reshimbag Ground, and Ganeshpeth Bus Stand have made it to the list. Other spots include Dhairyasheel Colony (Ward 12), Cotton Market (Ward 15), Itwari and Boriapura (Ward 8), Harpur Stadium, Jumairan Bazaar Mela (Ward 30), Bhandewadi Dumping Yard (Ward 26), and Anaaj Bazaar (Ward 21).

To deal with rising temperatures, NMC Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari has asked officials to take both short- and long-term steps to prevent heatstroke.
At a meeting on Wednesday, he told authorities to use heat-reflective shields on municipal buildings and advised people to avoid tin or asbestos roofs to reduce indoor heat.
Additionally, Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari has instructed the installation of water stations in these identified locations and has ordered the establishment of public drinking water stations (Panjrapol) in key areas, especially in the heat-prone zones.
