To address the ongoing parking issues at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), three multi-level parking facilities are being constructed. As per local daily report, these plazas are expected to be completed within the next two years and will offer much-needed relief to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
The construction work, taken up by the Integrated Division of the Public Works Department, has already begun. These projects are part of GMCH’s larger plan to modernise its infrastructure and improve overall healthcare services in the coming years.
The Public Works Department has initiated the construction of three multi-level car parks at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The proposal, prepared last year, was approved, and work is now underway with a target completion date within two years. Each parking plaza will have four floors, including the ground floor, and will provide space for vehicles across five levels.
Lifts will be installed for easy access, and each floor will have space for 100 to 150 vehicles, allowing each plaza to accommodate over 500 cars and bikes. The design will cater to both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
The three parking plazas will be strategically located near key areas: one near the Dental College, another close to the Dean’s Office, and the third in front of the hospital’s main entrance. These locations were selected due to frequent parking congestion, and the new facilities are expected to resolve this issue.
