Nagpur: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell on Sunday apprehended four individuals involved in the illegal possession and distribution of MD (Mephedrone) drugs in two separate operations carried out in Kapil Nagar and Pachpaoli areas of the city.
The first operation was conducted around 1:55 am near SDPL Colony, New MHADA Quarters Road, under the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted three suspects—Sheikh Salman Sheikh Kaleem (34), Sheikh Shahrukh Sheikh Kaleem (27), and Swapnil alias Bidi Naresh Jambhulkar (22). During the search, officers recovered 20 grams of MD powder, four mobile phones, and a motorcycle, collectively worth Rs 1.90 lakh. Subsequently, around 4:19 am, a second operation was launched to nab Haider. He was apprehended near Shiv Mandir, Tandapeth Road, in Pachpaoli, along with a Dio moped. Upon search, police seized 66 grams of MD powder, a mobile phone, a pistol with a live cartridge, and the vehicle — altogether valued at Rs 4.32 lakh. Haider admitted sourcing the drugs from another absconding accused, Sheikh Mukarram from Bhiwandi, Thane.
A total of 86 grams of MD powder, one firearm, one live cartridge, six mobile phones, and two two-wheelers, worth Rs 6.31 lakh, were seized from the four accused.
