Nagpur: A 15-year-old girl from Nagpur who fled her home due to financial hardship was safely rescued from Nepal and reunited with her family, thanks to a prompt and coordinated effort by Kalamna police.
On May 2, the girl left her Kalamna residence under the pretense of going for tuition but failed to return. After an extensive search, her worried family filed a missing person’s report at Kalamna Police Station.
Investigators immediately began tracking her movements using CCTV footage. They discovered she had taken a train to Tirodi, Madhya Pradesh, then traveled to Patna, and eventually boarded a bus heading towards Bittamore near the Indo-Nepal border.
A police team traced the girl to Janakpur in Nepal, where she was found under the care of Kishori Devi Vinod Pathak. Pathak had found the girl alone at the Sitamarhi bus stand and, suspecting she had run away, took her in and contacted Nagpur police.
During questioning, the girl revealed that her father had recently lost his job, and she had planned to work abroad to support her family. She believed Nepal was an easily reachable destination.
Under the guidance of PI Praveen Kale and the dedicated efforts of constables Datta Ghugul, Sanjay Rathod, and Umarbeg Mirza, the police team brought the girl back to Nagpur. After counseling, she was handed over safely to her family.
