Nimbus Café & Lounge in Gokulpeth, under the jurisdiction of Ambazari Police Station, was once again raided by a special team from Zone 2 police late Thursday night for allegedly serving hookah to customers. The raid, conducted on the directive of DCP Zone 2 Nityanand Jha, led to the seizure of hookah pots, flavored tobacco, and other related paraphernalia.
Acting on a tip-off that the café remained operational till late night and often witnessed disputes between rival groups, the DCP had ordered a surprise check. During the operation, several men and women were found smoking hookah on the premises.
The café operator, Sameer Shaikh, has been booked under relevant sections. This is not the first instance of action against Nimbus Café—authorities have previously cracked down on the establishment for similar violations. Despite multiple interventions, the café allegedly continued to serve hookah to its clientele.
Police sources revealed that the venue has become a popular hangout spot for youths from affluent families as well as individuals with criminal backgrounds. Its late-night operations and repeated violations have made it a concern for law enforcement.
Ambazari Police have registered a fresh case and are continuing further investigation. Authorities have reiterated that strict action will be taken against cafés and lounges flouting legal and safety norms.
