The Maharashtra State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has opened the floor for public feedback on the newly proposed draft for the state’s school education curriculum. The draft document was made available online on the council’s official website (https://www.maa.ac.in/) from 10 am Monday, according to a press statement issued by SCERT Director Rahul Rekhawar.
Inviting participation from educators, academic institutions, parents, experts, and citizens across the state, SCERT has requested that all comments be submitted online by 5 pm on August 27. The curriculum draft spans 20 subjects, including Marathi, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Environmental Studies, Physical Education, and others.
Feedback should be well-structured and concise, with respondents asked to mention the subject, class, content level, page number, original text, suggested revision, rationale for the change, and the proposed revised version. Submissions must also include personal details like name, contact number, email, and address.
For those preferring postal submissions, comments should be titled in bold as:
“School Education Curriculum (Proposed) Draft-2025 – Comments (for Curriculum Development Department)” and sent to:
SCERT, 708, Sadashiv Peth, Kumthekar Road, Pune – 411030.
On the issue of language policy, SCERT clarified that the current system will remain in place until recommendations are submitted by a government-appointed panel led by economist Dr Narendra Jadhav. The clarification follows Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ decision last month to withdraw earlier resolutions tied to the contentious three-language policy, which drew criticism for allegedly enforcing Hindi in non-Hindi-speaking regions. The Jadhav committee is tasked with reassessing the implementation of the policy starting from Class 1.
