Nagpur: In a major crackdown on counterfeit goods, Tehsil Police raided two footwear outlets in Nagpur and seized fake branded shoes and slippers worth ?8.8 lakh. The action was taken on July 29 following a complaint lodged by an enforcement officer from United & United Company.
Based on the tip-off, police teams conducted surprise raids at United Footwear and Delhi Shoes Point located at Timki Tinkhambha Chowk in the Tehsil police jurisdiction. The officers found the shopkeepers openly selling counterfeit products bearing logos of premium international brands like ASICS, CROCS, NIKE, and JORDAN.
Three accused identified as Jaykumar Narayandas Thadani (35) of Khamla Sindhi Colony, Kaivalya Kishore Majumdar (33) of Karvenagar, and Mayur Vijay Wagh (33) of Tanda Peth were caught red-handed during the raid. The seized items, including fake footwear and cartons, have an estimated market value of ?8,80,635.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Copyright Act. The investigation is being led by PSI Khan of Tehsil Police Station, and further legal action is underway.
