The City Traffic Police have released a detailed traffic diversion plan to facilitate upcoming infrastructure development, including Metro construction and road repairs. Two major construction projects—an underground Metro route by Maharashtra Metro and cement concrete road work by M/s T&T Infra Ltd—will significantly impact vehicle movement in key areas of the city. To manage congestion and ensure public safety, diversions will be enforced from July 30 to August 29, 2025.
Metro Construction Prompts Rerouting Near Morris College Square
Maharashtra Metro is set to commence construction of an underground Metro corridor from Freedom Park Metro Station (Morris College Square) to Institute of Science (DP Road). The project is expected to take approximately four months.
Given the high traffic volume in the area, traffic police have implemented the following diversions:
Diversion Routes:
- For vehicles travelling from Freedom Park Metro Station to Institute of Science (DP Road):
Turn right at Variety Square, then proceed via Maharajbagh Square as per convenience. - For vehicles heading from Institute of Science to Freedom Park Metro Station:
Take a left from Akashwani Square, then continue via Samvidhan Square. - Alternate (reverse) route:
From Institute of Science, turn left at Maharajbagh Square, proceed to Variety Square, or turn right at Akashwani Square, then continue through Samvidhan Square to reach Freedom Park Metro Station.
Road Work Near Campus Square Spurs Further Diversions
In Civil Lines, cement concrete road work will begin on the stretch from Campus Square to Futala Turning on Civil Road, undertaken by M/s T&T Infra Limited. The project, scheduled for completion within 30 days, will require temporary changes in traffic flow due to the heavy movement along the route.
Diversion Route:
- For vehicles moving from Amravati Road (Campus Square) to Ravi Nagar Square:
Turn left at Campus Square, then right at Birsamunda Square, followed by a left turn via Futala Turning to reach Ravi Nagar Square.
This set of diversions will also remain active from July 30 to August 29, 2025.
Motorists are advised to follow the signboards, adhere to diversion plans, and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement and minimize delays.
