In a major action in the School ID Scam, Nagpur Police have arrested Education Officers Siddheshwar Kaluse and Rohini Kumbhar for their alleged involvement in a massive financial fraud. The scam involved the misuse of the government’s online teacher salary system, where fake School IDs were created to withdraw salaries in the names of non-existent teachers.
According to the Sadar Police, As of now total of 12 individuals have been booked, including one Deputy Director of Education, three Education Officers, one clerk, two school principals, and two school Directors. The accused allegedly created 154 fake teacher entries and siphoned off government funds by withdrawing salaries in their names.
The police investigation revealed that the scam ran between March 2022 and March 2024, during which the accused benefited financially to the tune of over ₹100 crores. Following a complaint by Ravindra Dongre Patil, Chief Accounts Officer, a special investigation team uncovered the conspiracy and launched a crackdown under the guidance of senior officers.
The arrested accused were produced in Nagpur District Court (Court No. 6), which granted 7-day police custody for further investigation.
The scam came to light after routine audits flagged suspicious salary withdrawals in the Education Department’s online portal. The fraudulent entries were linked to newly appointed teachers who never actually worked in any school. The case has been registered under multiple IPC sections, the IT Act, and other relevant laws. Police officials confirm that further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
