The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water (OCW) have announced a 36-hour planned shutdown of the Pench-I Water Treatment Plant (WTP) from 10:00 AM on August 5, 2025, to 10:00 PM on August 6, 2025. This shutdown is being carried out to execute critical maintenance and infrastructure enhancement works under the AMRUT scheme, which are essential to strengthen the city’s water distribution system.
During this period, major works will be undertaken, including the interconnection of the 1200 × 900 mm Pench-I feeder with the new AMRUT feeder at Katol Road near the Police Training Ground and the interconnection of the 700 × 700 mm Omkar Nagar feeder with the new AMRUT feeder near the Raj Bhavan MBR gate. Additionally, the 600 mm diameter GH-Buldi feeder compartment outlet valve and the 600 mm diameter Medical feeder valve at the MBR premises will be replaced to improve the efficiency and reliability of the water supply network.
The shutdown will affect water supply across several major command areas of the city. GH-Buldi Command Area, which includes Buldi Main Road, Tekdi Road, Kumbhartoli, Netaji Market, Telipura, Anand Nagar, Ramdaspeth, and Maharajbagh Road, will experience disruption. Wanjari Nagar Old and New Command Areas, covering locations like Wanjari Nagar, Kukde Layout, Chandramani Nagar, Ishwar Nagar, Pragati Nagar, Vishwakarma Nagar, Ramai Nagar, Raghuji Nagar, and Police Quarter Ajni, will also be impacted. Reshimbagh Command Area, which comprises Juni Shukrawari, Mahavir Nagar, Shiv Park, Om Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Park, Nehru Nagar, and Labhan Tanda, along with Hanuman Nagar Command Area including Vakilpeth, Saraipeth, Chandan Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, and Reshimbagh Nagmoli Layout, will face a similar shutdown.
Further, water supply will be affected in Godrej Anandam ESR areas such as Dakshina Murti Chowk, Binjani Mahila School, Joharipura, and Juni Shukrawari, as well as under GH-Medical Feeder covering GMC, TV Ward, SECR Railway, Rambagh Colony, Ajni Railway, and Great Nag Road. GH-Central Railway Line and GH-Boriyapura Command Area, including Mominpura, Saifi Nagar, Itwari, Pachpaoli, Timki, Bhola Shah Darga, and Mirchi Bazar, will also see a complete shutdown. GH-Vahan Thikana Command Area, including Lashkaribagh, Kuradkarpeth, Ambedkar Colony, and Takshashila Bouddha Vihar, along with GH-Sadar and GH-Raj Nagar Command Areas covering Sadar, Gaddigodam, Kingsway Hospital, Rajnagar, Byramji Town, Mecosabagh, and Kadbi Chowk, will be affected. Bezanbagh ESR Command Area, covering Jaripatka, Lumbini Nagar, Bhim Square, Mahatma Phule Nagar, Indora Chawki, and Motha Indora, will also experience the impact of this planned shutdown.
OCW has appealed to all citizens in the affected areas to store sufficient water in advance and cooperate with the civic administration during this maintenance period. Water supply is expected to be fully restored by the night of August 6, 2025.
