The deadline for installing High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles in Maharashtra has been extended to November 30, giving vehicle owners additional time to comply with the mandate. Earlier, the last date for fitting HSRP plates was August 31.
The state transport department had directed all vehicle owners — especially those whose vehicles were registered before April 1, 2019 — to install the new tamper-proof number plates in line with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. Authorities have set up dedicated HSRP centres across the city to facilitate the process and avoid last-minute rush.
Officials have appealed to vehicle owners to complete the procedure well before the new deadline to prevent overcrowding at fitment centres and to ensure road safety compliance.
