India has scripted history on the global eSports stage. Ved “Beelzeboy” Bamb, a 24-year-old IIT graduate and software engineer from Nagpur, has emerged as India’s first-ever eSports World Champion by clinching the prestigious Pokémon GO World Championship 2025 held in Anaheim, California, USA.
This championship is regarded as one of the world’s most elite eSports tournaments that witnessed 227 top players from across the globe this year. Rising from the lower bracket, Ved displayed extraordinary skills and perseverance, defeating Spain’s Patoman twice (3-1 and 3-2) in the Grand Finale to claim victory.
“This win is not just my personal achievement but India’s moment on the world eSports map,” said Ved Bamb after his historic triumph.
Ved’s achievement marks a historic milestone for India’s eSports community, highlighting the country’s potential to lead in competitive, skill-based gaming. His victory aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of encouraging digital innovation and responsible eSports, distinguishing it from online money gaming.
As India celebrates this grand victory, Ved’s journey is set to inspire millions of young Indians to pursue excellence in digital innovation, technology, and competitive gaming.
