In a major step towards modernization, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is preparing to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve civic services. A new citizen-friendly digital platform, AI Mitra, is expected to be launched soon. This system will allow residents to register complaints, seek information, and receive updates through an AI-powered chatbot.
The move comes in response to frequent complaints of citizens facing delays and difficulties in getting municipal services. With the new system, grievances related to water supply, sanitation, drainage, and other civic issues can be directly logged onto a digital platform, ensuring faster resolution. Citizens will also get real-time updates on the status of their complaints, reducing the need for repeated visits to municipal offices.
According to officials, AI Mitra will provide round-the-clock assistance and will be integrated with existing NMC services. Along with complaint registration, the chatbot will also provide information about tax payments, licenses, certificates, and other municipal facilities. NMC expects this initiative to bring more transparency, efficiency, and convenience to urban governance, making Nagpur a model for AI-enabled civic administration.
