Nagpur: In a dramatic daylight crime, a 31-year-old vehicle dealer was abducted and brutally beaten by four men over a ?4 lakh loan dispute in Kalamna. Shockingly, the accused recorded the assault and uploaded the video on Snapchat, triggering outrage. Thanks to quick action and mobile location tracking, Kalamna Police rescued the victim within hours and arrested all the accused.
The victim, identified as Shahid Ali Amjad Ali (31), resident of Omsainagar, runs a vehicle trading business. Police said Shahid had borrowed money from Afzal Ahmed Javed Iqbal (29, Ansar Nagar, Mominpura) and Syed Atif Johar Syed Nazim Johar (32, near Hafeez Bakery, Mominpura). The loan dispute turned violent when the accused, along with their aides, plotted the abduction.
On August 28 afternoon, the accused picked up Shahid from Belenagar on a two-wheeler under the pretext of discussing repayment. He was later intercepted by Kamran Nakib Ashpak Ahmed (29, Mominpura), who instead of helping, joined the assault. The gang then took Shahid to a shop named Dulhan in Mominpura, where he was confined and thrashed again. During the attack, Jamal Ahmed Javed Iqbal (26, Ansar Nagar) filmed the assault and posted it on Snapchat.
Despite his injuries, Shahid managed to call police emergency helpline 112, following which Kalamna police tracked his mobile location and traced him to Sitabuldi area. A rescue operation was launched, saving his life.
Police have seized two motorcycles, four mobile phones, and a baseball bat from the accused. All four have been booked for kidnapping, assault, and criminal intimidation.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Senior PI Pravin Kale with officers Shashikant Musale, Dnyaneshwar More, Vilas Game, Vishal Bhaisare, Wasim Desai, Lalit Shende, Avinash Chauhan, and Ajay Gatlewar.
