At a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, several ambitious projects for Nagpur city and its surrounding region received approval, promising to transform the city’s infrastructure and economy.
Under the “New Nagpur” initiative, the cabinet gave in-principle approval to develop an International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC) at Godhni (Rithi) and Ladgaon (Rithi) in Hingna taluka. About 692 hectares of land will be acquired by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) for this international-standard financial hub.
To boost connectivity, the cabinet also cleared the development of an Outer Ring Road around Nagpur city, along with four truck and bus terminals (transport hubs) along the route. The project will be executed by NMRDA to ease traffic congestion and strengthen logistics.
Further, the government approved financial participation for Nagpur Metro’s Phase-2 project, by accepting contingent liabilities for externally aided loans, ensuring timely expansion of the metro network.
These decisions are set to not only improve urban mobility but also position Nagpur as a leading business, transport, and economic hub of central India.
