To ensure environmentally safe and well-managed immersion of Ganesh idols, the Municipal Corporation has made special arrangements at various locations across the city. For the immersion of large idols, artificial ponds have been created at Gorewada, Police Line Takli, and Laxminagar premises.
Immersion of 4 to 6 Feet Idols at Police Line Takli
Due to traffic congestion and safety issues caused by large crowds during immersion at the Koradi artificial pond, the administration has arranged alternative sites. A special artificial tank has been constructed at Police Line Takli for idols ranging from 4 to 6 feet in height. Similarly, a provision has been made at Gorewada for immersing idols taller than 6 feet. The Kashibai field has also been earmarked for immersion of idols up to 5 feet.
Gorewada Tank: 32 Meters Long, 18 Meters Wide
A large artificial pond has been constructed at Gorewada, measuring 32 meters in length, 18 meters in width, and 6 meters deep, for immersion of big idols. The tank has been designed to allow safe immersion and avoid congestion. With a 12-meter wide approach road, the site ensures smooth access for vehicles and immersion processions. Security and safety measures have also been put in place to ensure the immersion is carried out peacefully.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has appealed to citizens to use these artificial ponds for idol immersion, helping preserve natural water bodies and ensuring a cleaner, greener celebration.
