Amid devotional chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya”, devotees across Nagpur bid farewell to Lord Ganesha on Anant Chaturdashi. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) ensured smooth and orderly immersions at 216 locations, where 419 artificial immersion tanks were created for eco-friendly celebrations.
The police department, led by Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal, deployed tight security across the city, while NMC staff worked tirelessly day and night at immersion sites. Senior officials, including Additional Commissioners Vasumana Pant and Vaishnavi B., supervised arrangements to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience.
To discourage immersions in natural water bodies, large artificial tanks were constructed at Gorewada, Police Line Takli, and Lakadganj’s Kachchivisa, with dedicated facilities for disposal of flowers and offerings. Mobile immersion tanks were also introduced this year, especially benefiting senior citizens, allowing Ganesha idols to be immersed right at their doorsteps.

Police Commissioner Dr. Singal and State Principal Secretary Vinita Singal visited Gorewada immersion site, expressing satisfaction over the arrangements. Dr. Chaudhary personally reviewed facilities at Futala and Gorewada, ensuring availability of drinking water and civic amenities.
Self-help groups and NGOs like Green Vigil Foundation, along with college students, actively assisted devotees at various immersion sites. At Chitnis Park, 15 specially designed tanks named after major rivers such as Godavari, Krishna, Narmada, Tapi, and Pench were created to symbolize river conservation.
Large public idols were immersed overnight with the help of cranes and disaster management teams stationed with rescue boats. The orderly and eco-conscious immersion process reflected Nagpur’s collective devotion and responsibility towards tradition and environment.
