The draft ward formation for the upcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections will face a decisive test on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, when as many as 115 objections and suggestions are taken up for hearing.
The objections, received by the civic body between August 23 and September 4, question various aspects of the proposed 38-ward structure. To address these concerns, a full-day hearing has been scheduled from 11 am onwards in the Commissioner’s Chamber at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building, Civil Lines. The session will continue until every case is heard.
Notices have been issued to all who filed objections, directing them to attend. The NMC has urged complainants to be present on time, and in case of non-receipt of notices, they may contact the Election Department at NMC headquarters.
The Maharashtra Government’s Urban Development Department has appointed Shravan Hardikar (IAS), Managing Director, MahaMetro, as the authorized officer to conduct the hearing. NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari will also remain present.
The outcome of Tuesday’s proceedings will decide the final ward structure, setting the stage for the civic polls. All eyes are now on the crucial hearing that could reshape Nagpur’s electoral map.
