In a major development for the city, the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) and the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC). The agreement was signed in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
NBCC will serve as the project management consultant for the ambitious New Nagpur development project, which will be spread across 1,710 acres. The corporation will oversee planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure quality infrastructure.
Alongside the New Nagpur project, a 148-kilometre Outer Ring Road will also be constructed. This massive road project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and boost connectivity in and around Nagpur.
HUDCO has extended a financial support of ₹11,300 crore. Out of this, ₹6,500 crore will be dedicated to the New Nagpur project, while ₹4,800 crore will be invested in the Outer Ring Road.
The projects are set to transform Nagpur into a modern urban hub, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, improved connectivity, and employment opportunities. Deputy CM Fadnavis noted that this initiative will accelerate regional growth, attract investments, and strengthen Nagpur’s position as a logistics and industrial hub.
