Nagpur: A property dealer from Nagpur was brutally murdered on Sunday morning, September 7, on the Umargam–Pandarkwada road. The victim’s body bore deep wounds inflicted by sharp-edged weapons. The exact reason and identity of the killers are still unclear. Police have registered a case against unknown persons and begun investigations.
The deceased, Devdatt Vyawahare (56), a resident of Kirtinagar, Indora, Nagpur, was a property dealer in Nagpur. His father was associated with the New Nagpur Mahila Gramin Vikas Sahakari Patsanstha as a manager, while Devdatt was involved in property dealings with Narendra Pairkar, Sunil Kalaskar, Motiuddin, Shersingh Kaduk, and others. Police are probing all angles, including business disputes.
On Sunday morning, Devdatt received a phone call from his relative Chirag Kakad informing him of a family death in Khurdhi (Kurudhi) village. He left for the village around 9 a.m. on his two-wheeler (MH-49/SC 4889). Around 10 a.m., his cousin sister Nisha Bhomar (Pitli, Nagpur) received a call that Devdatt’s body was found near a turn on the Umargam–Pandarkwada road.
His nephew Manthan Gharjale (21), niece Pooja (26), and nephew Rohit Sonavne (22) rushed to the spot. Police arrived shortly after and sent the body for postmortem.
Devdatt’s throat was half-slit, and he had severe injuries on the right eye, head, both ears, chest, back, and fingers—inflicted with sharp-edged weapons. His bike was found damaged nearby. The brutal nature of the injuries indicates the murder was premeditated.
