Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a room at an OYO hotel located in the Maninagar area where illegal gambling was taking place. The police detained the gamblers and seized cash amounting to over ?2 lakh along with other materials.
The arrested accused have been identified as residents from different parts of the city, including Pipla Road, Narendra Nagar, Maninagar, Nandanvan, Prabhunagar, and Beltarodi. Acting on a report received by Beltarodi police around 8 p.m., it was learned that a gambling session was being conducted in Room No. 103 of Vrundavan OYO Hotel in Maninagar.
During the raid, the police found accused individuals gambling with playing cards. A total of ?18,000 in cash, 4 mobile phones, 2 two-wheelers, and 2 four-wheelers were seized along with other materials, collectively valued at around ?30 lakh.
A case has been registered under the Maharashtra Gambling Prohibition Act against the accused. Police investigations revealed that the accused had booked the hotel room under the pretext of a meeting but were actually planning a gambling session followed by a party. However, before the party could begin, the police intervened.
