Good news for patients awaiting liver transplantation. The Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) in Nagpur has set up a liver transplant center at its Super Specialty Hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. The Health Department team has inspected the infrastructure and expressed satisfaction. With the required approval, the first liver transplant surgeries will begin soon at this government facility.
The Super Specialty Hospital has already performed more than 75 successful kidney transplants. Now preparations are underway to start liver transplantation as well. According to Dr. Raj Gajbhiye, Dean of GMCH, this will be a major milestone in providing advanced healthcare in the region.
According to the Nagpur Regional Organ Transplant Coordination Center, 228 patients are currently waiting for liver transplant surgery.
Once approved, Nagpur’s Super Specialty Hospital will become the first government hospital in Maharashtra to begin liver transplant surgeries.
