Nagpur is set to witness a major boost in its infrastructure on September 12, with the formal inauguration of the much-anticipated four-lane flyover connecting Bole Petrol Pump Square to University Campus Square on National Highway-53.
The 2.85-km-long structure, constructed at a cost of ₹191 crore, will be opened to the public at 5:30 pm at Bole Petrol Pump Square by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The event will also see the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with several state ministers, MLAs, and MLCs.
The flyover forms part of the National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity under the PM Gati Shakti initiative and is a key component of the Amravati Road Traffic Improvement Project (ARTIP). It is expected to ease congestion and streamline vehicular movement along this busy corridor.
In recent months, authorities completed finishing work, including road markings, signage, rumble strips, and street lighting. Though the project faced delays due to heavy rains and pending clearances, officials have confirmed it is now fully ready.
Residents, however, endured considerable hardship during construction. Travel between Bole Petrol Pump, Law College Square, and University Campus Square was marked by potholes, dust, and narrowed lanes, while adjoining roads and footpaths remained neglected.
Upon inauguration, the structure—officially named the Gyanyogi Dr. Shrikant Jichkar Flyover—will finally be opened for public use.
