Godhni railway station is set to become Nagpur’s second satellite station, which will help reduce passenger congestion at Nagpur Junction. The Railway Ministry has approved the redevelopment plan, and construction work is progressing rapidly. Once complete, express trains will begin halting at Godhni from June 2026, providing major relief to commuters.
Under the redevelopment project, high-level platforms will be constructed to accommodate express train halts. The station will also be equipped with modern passenger facilities such as elevators, escalators, waiting rooms, ticket counters, foot overbridges, and adequate parking space. Platforms will be directly connected to entry and exit points, ensuring smooth movement for travelers.
Earlier, some legal disputes had delayed the project, but railway officials confirmed that these hurdles have now been resolved. Land acquisition and construction approvals are in place, and work is moving ahead without obstruction. The redevelopment will span 150 acres, transforming Godhni into a modern satellite hub with state-of-the-art amenities.
Once operational, express trains from Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and other major routes will halt at Godhni. This will decongest Nagpur Junction, which currently handles around 3.6 lakh passengers daily. With Godhni in operation, the pressure on Nagpur station will be significantly reduced, while long-distance passengers will save valuable travel time.
According to railway officials, 16 major construction works are in progress as part of the project. These include a new station building, new high-level platforms with seating, lighting, escalators, and lifts, improved circulation pathways, expanded parking facilities, and better connectivity to nearby roads and highways.
The Railway Ministry has set June 2026 as the target for completion. By then, express trains will begin halting at Godhni, officially making it Nagpur’s second satellite station after Ajni.
