To mark World Senior Citizens Day on October 1, the Nagpur District Senior Citizens Coordination and Monitoring Committee, in association with Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and its Senior Citizens Cell, has organized a special cultural program at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium, Reshimbagh. The event will begin at 2 pm and will feature a two-act play for elderly citizens, including senior citizens from old-age homes and differently-abled seniors, who will be provided free entry passes.
According to Suresh Revatkar, Coordinator of the NMC Senior Citizens Cell, entry passes are being distributed daily at the auditorium between 2 pm and 5 pm until September 30. “This program, held under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, aims to create an inclusive and engaging platform for seniors and their families. We urge maximum participation,” Revatkar said.
The program will also include the felicitation of senior citizens who have contributed to awareness activities under the SVEEP campaign, a solo performance by Dr. Ramesh Thorat, and the staging of the two-act play “Baki Shunya”, produced by Sanjay Bhakre. Senior Citizens Council of Nagpur District president Manoharrao Kharshe, along with other committee members, appealed to senior citizens and theatre lovers to attend in large numbers.
At a recent council meeting, key members selected for the welcome and management committee included FACEKOM president Sudhir Bhagat, Senior Citizens Trust secretary Dr. Raju Mishra, Vidarbha Senior Citizens Federation president Prof. Prabhuji Deshpande, secretary Adv. Avinash Telang, and others.
