MSEDCL has initiated an automated approval process for online applications for electricity load increases up to 157 kW for all its low-voltage industrial, commercial, residential, and other customers. This automated system is now active on MSEDCL’s website. Consequently, for locations where no infrastructure is needed, the increased load will be automatically approved and activated within just 24 to 48 hours after the customer makes the required payment.
Maharashtra’s Chief Minister and Energy Minister, Hon. Shri Devendra Fadnavis, had directed MSEDCL to provide services to electricity consumers based on the principle of ‘Ease of Living.’ Following this, MSEDCL’s Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Lokesh Chandra, instructed that the process for increasing or decreasing load for all low-voltage customers be made online and automated. An online system was developed for this purpose and was launched to coincide with the Service Period from September 17 to October 2.
The option to increase or decrease the existing load (Load Change/Demand Change) beyond the contractual limit is available to customers through their personal login on the MSEDCL website www.mahadiscom.in or the mobile app. Previously, the approval process was not automated, which caused significant delays. Now, with the new system, load increases up to 157 kW will be approved automatically. Once an online request for a load increase is submitted, a quotation will be generated automatically, and customers can also pay the quotation fees online.
Low-voltage connections are categorized into three groups: 0 to 7.5 kW, 7.5 to 20 kW, and 20 to 157 kW. The automated approval system has been activated for load increases in all three categories. Customers simply need to apply online through the website or mobile app and pay the required fees. All subsequent processes will be handled automatically by MSEDCL. Customers will be notified about the status via their registered mobile number or email.
For connections where there is no need to install a new meter or build new infrastructure, the increased load will be automatically approved and activated within just 24 hours of the customer’s payment. If a new meter is required due to the increased load or a change from a single to a three-phase connection, the new meter installation order will be automatically sent to the relevant agency. In such cases, the process for load increase will generally be completed within 48 hours.
For electricity connections that require infrastructure development to increase the load beyond the contracted limit, MSEDCL will handle the necessary work. The relevant agency from the pre-approved list will be automatically notified, and the budget for the infrastructure will be approved. The customer will be kept informed about this process at every stage.
The decision to provide automated approval for online load increase applications in the low-voltage category marks a new chapter in MSEDCL’s customer service. This will greatly benefit residential customers under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, as well as industrial, commercial, and other low-voltage customers
