The Samvidhan Satyagraha Padyatra began today from the Dikshabhoomi, Nagpur, after paying floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The march, led by Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson Tushar Gandhi and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal, is set to reach Bapu Kuti, Sevagram Ashram Wardha.
Spanning nearly 90 kilometers over four days, the Padyatra aims to awaken citizens to the importance of protecting Samvidhan, Lokshahi (Democracy), and Samvidhanik Sanstha (Constitutional Institutions). Hundreds of youth, women, and citizens from various communities have joined the march, making it a living expression of faith in India’s Samvidhanic values and a call for unity in diversity.
Speaking on the occasion, Harshwardhan Sapkal said, “We are taking out this Padyatra to challenge the divisive foundations laid by the RSS regarding untouchability and discrimination. It aims to engage all Indians in upholding the Samvidhan and the principles of truth and non-violence.”
Sharing his thoughts, Tushar Gandhi said, “We are doing this Samvidhan Satyagraha Padyatra to strengthen and protect the Samvidhan. We carry the message of love and compassion against the hatred being spread in society and politics by the Sangh and its affiliates — because if hatred increases, it will weaken the unity and soul of our country.”
