To mark Wildlife Week, the Nagpur Forest Department organized a bird-watching program at the Biodiversity Park, Ambazari, under the Hingna Forest Range. The initiative aimed to foster love and awareness toward wildlife while promoting conservation and environmental protection among students and citizens.
Students from Somalwar High School, Ramdaspeth (Classes 8 & 9, NCC Unit) enthusiastically participated in the event. Honorary Wildlife Wardens and Associate Coordinators of WWF-India, Mr. Ajinkya Bhatkar and Mr. Sanjay Nafde (CIBA), guided students on bird identification, the ecological importance of avian species, and measures for their conservation. Honorary Wildlife Warden Mr. Udham Singh Yadav shared valuable tips on safety and responsibility during forest visits.
Deputy Conservator of Forests (Working Plan) Mrs. Geeta Nannaware addressed the participants on the harmful effects of plastic and urged students to adopt eco-friendly habits. Range Forest Officer, Hingna, Mrs. Sheetal Karnase introduced the participants to various tree species found in the park.
The program’s success was supported by NCC instructor Mr. Vijay Naik of Somalwar High School, who coordinated the students’ participation. The event also saw the active presence of Mr. Sunil Phulzhele, Mr. Aniruddha Khadse (Forester), Mr. Hanumant Shinde, Mr. Sameer Nevare, Mrs. Vaishali Lilhare, and Mrs. Pooja Bawanthade (Forest Guards) along with other forest personnel.
