In a major crackdown under the ongoing Operation Shakti initiative against human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of the Nagpur Crime Branch conducted a raid in the Hudkeshwar area on Monday evening, rescuing one woman and arresting two accused involved in running a sex racket.
The operation, which took place between 5:30 pm and 10:25 pm on October 6, 2025, was carried out at Plot No. 15, Brahmavidya Society, Narasala Road, Hudkeshwar, Nagpur. Following the action, a case was registered under Sections 143(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
According to a complaint filed by Police Head Constable Prakash Mathankar of the Crime Branch, the arrested accused have been identified as Sushil Kumar Lalsing Thakur (37), a resident of Hanuman Mandir area, Chunabhatti, Vivekanand Nagar, and Shobha Shyamrao Shende (45), residing near New Beed Corporation School, Hanuman Nagar, Nagpur.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo lured women with false promises of quick financial gain and coerced them into prostitution. Acting on a reliable tip-off, the SSB team led by Police Inspector Rahul Shire laid a trap and successfully rescued one woman from the premises.
During the raid, police seized two mobile phones worth ₹25,000, ₹1,500 in trap money, two sealed and one used condom worth ₹20, and a Honda 160cc motorcycle (MH-40-DD-9728) valued at ₹80,000. The total value of the seized property stands at ₹1,06,520.
Following the raid, the rescued woman and both accused were subjected to medical examinations. The seized items and case papers have been handed over to Hudkeshwar Police Station for further investigation.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal and DCP Mahak Swami, as part of the department’s continuous efforts to curb human trafficking and dismantle organized sex rackets operating in the city.
