Nagpur: In a significant action under the ongoing Operation U-Turn, Nagpur Police recovered 7 grams of MD (Mephedrone) from a vehicle during a late-night nakabandi at Koradi Naka around 12:30 am on Tuesday, October 7.
According to reports, the police team found the driver in an intoxicated state during routine checking. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 7 grams of the banned narcotic substance. PSI Mishra, along with the traffic staff, carried out the search, while PI Sharad Kadam supervised the operation. Following the recovery, the NDPS team was immediately called to the spot for further action.
Operation U-Turn, initiated under the leadership of DCP (Traffic) Lohit Matani, has been playing a crucial role in curbing the menace of drunk driving, thereby reducing road accidents and associated crimes across the city. The recent seizure highlights that the campaign is now expanding its focus to include the crackdown on drug abuse as well.
Police officials have stated that such surprise checks and nakabandi drives will continue at key locations to deter both alcohol and narcotics-related offenses, ensuring safer roads and a cleaner city environment.
